Dr. Michael Holick, M.D, Ph.D., Professor of Medicine, Physiology, and Dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine, conducted a study involving a processed emu oil, and the results were so outstanding that they quickly became a topic of conversation in many medical and other journals.

Dr. Holick revealed that he and his associates had been very interested in looking at factors that stimulate and inhibit both skin and natural hair growth. He had been introduced to a processed emu oil by representatives of a company that processes and sells the oil as a hair growth oil.

"They had told me about the wondrous things that it's doing from their own anecdotal experience. My feeling was that the only way to really know whether or not this oil has some biologic property was to do a control study in a laboratory setting."

Natural Hair Growth Testing

"We depilated some mice and we then topically applied, in a blinded fashion, emu oil and corn oil to two different groups of mice, and we did this for two weeks," he explained.

24 hours before the conclusion of the study, the mice were given an injection of a label that indicates what the DNA turnover is. The injection was a monitor of how quickly their DNA was multiplying. Skin was then obtained from the animals the next day and analyzed.

"We found that there was about a 20% increase in DNA synthesis, which means that there was a 20% increase in the proliferative activity, or the growth activity of the skin in the animals that received the emu oil compared to the animals that received corn oil," said Dr. Holick.

"And when we looked at the hair follicles, and the thickness of the skin, it showed that the hair follicles were much more robust, and that the skin thickness was remarkably increased, suggesting that the emu oil stimulated skin growth and natural hair growth in these animals. Also, we discovered in the same test that over 80% of hair follicles that had been asleep were awakened, and began growing hair."

Hair Follicles Go Through A Cycle

"A hair follicle goes through a cycle. It goes from a resting stage into an active growth period, and then it goes back to sleep again. We woke up all the hair follicles by stimulating them, and then we wanted to see if we could further stimulate these hair follicles by topically applying emu oil.

We found that there was an enhancement in the growth activity of the hair follicles. So it gives us a very good scientific indication that we were stimulating skin growth with emu oil," Dr. Holick elaborated.

"We now have some evidence..........that emu oil will actually stimulate skin growth, and may either stimulate and or maintain natural hair growth."

Emu Oil Tip
Put a “puddle” of emu oil in the palm of one hand and put your fingertips in it (other hand of course). Massage it in good and do this enough to get the oil into your scalp.

Do this in the evening so it can stay on as long as possible. You will need to wash it out. Use an all natural shampoo or shower gel.
